Goodbye 2011

Since the year 2000, when a friend of mine introduced me to this practice, I have been journaling on the 1st of January, reviewing the year past and setting intent for the year to come.  This year for the first time, I haven’t felt like doing it.  Instead, two weeks into January, I picked up my art journal, bid farewell to 2011 and mapped out 2012, well, the main things anyway.  And here it is!

Lost in translation

Some close friends have mentioned to me that while I find it easier to express myself in English, it would also be nice if I could provide some sort of French translation.  Seeing as I am already straddling both sides of the Channel and for the sake of diplomatic relations, I will try to come up with something.  I don’t think I will translate every single post, since that would prove far too taxing to my already extremely muddled brain (not to mention far too close for comfort to the Eurovision Song Contest). And I will make an effort not to get (you) lost in translation!

In the meantime, have a look at these.  They have been keeping me busy….paper beads…patiently waiting to be glazed…and to be used!

Heart journal challenge 1

Over on the Heart Journal 2012 blog , Théalie and Lilibulle have set up a year long heart journal with monthly challenges.  This month, the challenge was to use masking tape and metal wire.  Although I liked the idea, I didn’t want to take part.  I’m none too fond of hearts as a general shape (although I have been known to use them on a page or two).  So I initially came up with a regular shaped page using this month’s techniques.

I  enjoyed myself immensely, so I decided to take the plunge and do the same with the required heart shape.

And here you are for this month’s challenge.

To blog or not to blog

Several important people in my life have suggested I open a blog to showcase some of my stuff.  It took me a long time to get to this point.  You see, I don’t show my stuff, except to a few close friends.  My stuff is too…well…personal…So opening this blog is a leap of faith…the kind of leap that would have you jump off a cliff without a parachute…

We’ll see how far this leap of faith takes me.  For the moment, I’m going to hit the publish button before I get cold feet.

Welcome to Fi’s corner.  Grab a cup of tea and make yourself at home.
